Care
To help
assure a safe and trouble-free trip, the following items should be
checked by an auto mechanic before traveling:

Get
a thorough tune-up
-
Have
brakes checked and replace brake fluid if necessary
-
Check
transmission, radiator, power steering and windshield washer
fluid levels

Check
oil level
-
Check
tire pressure and inspect the tires for signs for wear
-
Check
belts for worn or frayed areas
-
Check
hoses for bulges or spongy feel; check hose clamps to be sure
they are securely attached.

Check
air and oil filters and change if necessary
-
Check
windshield wiper blades and replace if worn
-
Check
all lights, interior and exterior. Don't forget brake lights,
turn
signals and flashers.
Things to take
along in your vehicle:

Vehicle
registration and proof of vehicle ownership

Evidence
of vehicle insurance. Check expiration date and proof of
responsibility

Credit
card and auto club identification
-
Spare
tire, tool kit, first-aid kit

Jack,
lug wrench, jumper cables

Road
flares, flashlight
-
Empty
one-gallon container for gas
-
Can
of engine oil
-
Spare
parts, fan belt, fuses
-
Fire
extinguisher, filled and in place in your recreational vehicle
